Bookings open for Chester’s first Festival of Ideas

The entire line-up for Chester’s inaugural Festival of Ideas has been published, and people can now make free bookings for around 100 events in and around Chester that are taking place as part of it.

The festival is being put together by the University of Chester and will take place from July 4 to July 7. The events include discussion panels, guided walks, theatre, readings, pop-up exhibitions, music, and interactive activities, to name but a few. Well-known speakers will also be discussing various issues. For example, Giles Brandreth, the university’s chancellor, will be giving a talk on “The Idea of Happiness – And How to Achieve It.”

The festival is being led by Associate Professor Katherine Wilson from the University of Chester. She said there would be something for all to enjoy at the festival with the events covering a wide variety of themes and featuring well-known personalities. She added:

“We’re extremely excited to launch the full programme of almost 100 events, open bookings and create this new Festival for Chester, providing the chance to connect, learn, celebrate, be inspired by and enjoy all that’s happening. We’ve been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and input we’ve received for the Festival…”

Wilson also thanked everyone involved in planning the festival and said she was looking forward to welcoming people to it in the summer.

Chester’s lively events schedule makes it a great place to study, and there’s plenty of quality shared student housing in Chester, often with inclusive bills and no up-front fees.
