Professor Jackie Potter is to give a public lecture about her journey from working in environmental science as a lecturer, to managing and leading higher education.
Potter will give her inaugural lecture, titled “Teaching and Scholarship in Higher Education”, as the University of Chester’s Professor of Learning and Development in Higher Education. She will also share insights from her time as a leading player in some of the university’s educational initiatives.
Professor Potter is also the chair of the Heads of Educational Development Group, a national UK network, and participates in the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) as a senior fellow, and the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE) as a principal fellow.
About her history, the university’s website says:
“Jackie was a researcher in Arctic plant ecology for five years before starting her teaching career as a lecturer in environmental science. Her first full time job leading educational development was at Trinity College Dublin. She has been leading academic practice, educational development and change in universities in the UK since 2009.”
Everyone is welcome, and the lecture is free to watch both online and in person, but places must be booked in advance. It will take place in room 016 of Exton Park’s School of Education building on Thursday, November 21 from 6pm.
