Final-year University of Chester student Louise has given her thoughts about her studies on the Digital Marketing programme on the university’s website.

Her comments include mentioning how a work placement led to her being offered a graduate position.

She said the lecturers on the course were proactive in pushing her to develop relevant industry skills, as well as build up her own business. As well as being engaging, she said the course was fun. As part of the course, she got her work placement through the university’s system with a company who offered her a few hours work with them before the placement started. She said she also offered to continue with them in the summer holiday after the placement ended. She added:

“I then started to work for them around ten hours a week, and was eventually offered a full-time job for when I finished University. I wouldn’t have got the job if I hadn’t applied for it as my placement, so the University’s industry connections have been extremely helpful for me personally.”

Beth Morris, the programme leader, said students like Louise apply practical skills regularly in their degrees, such as by producing podcasts and blogs, running campaigns on social media and building websites. She said this also aids them in building up a professional portfolio.

The University of Chester provides many opportunities for its students to succeed both during and after their studies. If you’re still studying and in need of somewhere to stay, you can find off-campus accommodation near Chester university, sometimes with no upfront deposits to pay.
