Movie themes to be played at Chester Cathedral

You can enjoy listening to renditions of iconic movie themes this Saturday evening at Chester Cathedral if you choose to attend the “Music from the Movies by Candlelight” event.

The London Concertante will play a selection of well-known movie scores from composers like Ennio Morricone, John Williams, John Barry and Nino Rota, to name but a few. The event promises to be an immersive experience as the classical musicians take the audience on a journey involving star ships, aliens, war heroes and spies through the music’s connection to the silver screen.

The cathedral’s website says about the event:

“Feel the thrill of the prehistoric with the epic melodies of 'Jurassic Park', experience the poignant emotions of 'Schindler's List', and let the heartwarming wonder of 'ET' envelop you. From the sweeping grandeur of 'The Mission' to the suave sophistication of 'James Bond', and the sweeping landscapes of 'Out of Africa'…”

Also playing will be the upbeat theme to ‘Superman’ to contrast with the haunting theme from ‘The Godfather’, as well as many others. The event will last two hours from 7:30pm. Tickets can be booked on the cathedral website, but seating is not reserved, so it may be worth being there when the doors open at 6:45pm to make sure you get a good seat, especially if you’re coming as a group and want to sit together.

Cultural events are another big attraction for people coming to work in Chester. You can also find young professional accommodation in Chester at affordable rates with bills included in the rent.
