Oktoberfest to accompany Chester racing finale

With the autumn upon us, the racing season for this year is drawing to a close, but Chester Racecourse is going out with a bang by combining its final meeting of the year with a Bavarian beer festival.

According to the racecourse’s website:

“…this is the end of the Chester Racecourse 2024 season. An incredible run of 15 fixtures. Beginning with our world famous Boodles May Festival and including our beloved Liverpool John Lennon Airport Family Fun Day and ever-stylish Powells Jewellery Ladies Day, it’s been a season to remember.”

The event is being held in collaboration with Cisco and Protos Networks. Potential visitors are urged to attend and enjoy the mild early-autumn weather before they begin the long wait for next year’s race season. Guests have the option of donning their usual race meeting attire or dressing up in Oktoberfest gear, in which case they’ll qualify to enter a fancy dress competition.

As befits Oktoberfest, there will be beer tasting available and lots of live music to keep the Bavarian-style atmosphere going. The racecourse is also rewarding those who book earlier with cheaper tickets. The meeting will take place from 11:30am on Saturday, September 21 on New Crane Street.

Having the world’s oldest racecourse is one of the many things that attracts people to Chester. If you’re studying here and looking for new accommodation, you can find no-deposit student accommodation in Chester near to the university campuses, often with utility bills included in the rent.
