The University of Chester has continued its series of student experiences with that of Erin, who discusses how a Foundation Level served as the basis to progress to an MSc in Physician Associate Studies.
Erin begins by discussing how she opted for a Foundation Year when she applied to do an undergraduate Biomedical Science course because she struggled with the written exams at A level. A Foundation Year serves as a transition for those who lack the grades to immediately embark on a three-year degree course or are mature students without traditional qualifications.
Erin writes that for anyone struggling to get the necessary grades but still having a desire for higher education, a Foundation Year is a great option, adding:
“I learned a lot around the subjects that related to my course, and I also picked up more academic skills which provided me with a broad understanding of what’s expected at a university level of study. I became confident writing essays, referencing, revising, and following lectures.”
This certainly worked for Erin, who then began her Biomedical Science undergraduate degree before transitioning over to Medical Science, which is similar but more focused on the clinical environment. She then went on to do an MSc and ultimately qualify as a Physician Associate.
