The University of Chester has announced the availability of Commonwealth Shared Scholarships for its MA course on Education, Society and Globalisation.
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) funds the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships with support from UK universities. They enable a full-time, one-year Master’s study for a select range of courses. They are open to students from middle- and low-income Commonwealth countries with the aim of equipping talented individuals with the skills and knowledge to contribute to sustainable development.
The full-time master’s on education, society and globalisation has long been popular with international students. Learners explore issues related to welfare and social inequality that can affect children’s life progression. This includes topics like community engagement and social justice, children’s rights, educational and professional challenges for young women and girls, child poverty, child labour, mental wellbeing and disability, parenting, and the globalisation of education.
Dr Paula Hamilton, the leader for the programme, said:
“I am delighted that the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship will offer individuals, such as teachers or community workers, the opportunity to advance their knowledge and skills in social justice and equality issues, to make a real difference to the lives of children, young people and marginalised people who face challenges and disadvantage.”
Whatever brings you to study in Chester, you’ll need some comfortable accommodation. Fortunately, there is a range of off-campus student housing in Chester. To make things simpler, the bills are often included in the rent, and you may not even have to pay an upfront deposit or other fees.
