Guide to Garden Quarter
The beautiful and vibrant Garden Quarter is located just north of Chester city centre, straddling the English-Welsh border and the River Dee. It is made up of Cheyney Road, Parkgate Road, Bouverie Street and Garden Lane, alongside a number of smaller roads including Henshall Street, Denbigh Street and Louise Street. Old Port Square and Garden Lane are at the commercial heart of the area, and a district that is now synonymous with chilled out student life in Chester.
Accommodation
The Garden Quarter is set within close proximity to the university, and is surrounded by historic Roman walls. It is well established as the epicentre of student life and has gained a reputation as being an ideal place to live for undergraduates in Chester. Rents are affordable and classes at the University of Chester’s Parkgate Road Campus are easily walkable. Many renters live in large Victorian era houses on Bouverie Street, whilst Cheyney Road and Garden Lane have lots of more modern or recently refurbished houses.
