Charitable students at Chester University with a passion for nature and conservation will be thrilled to hear that Chester Zoo is holding another “Run for Nature” this year.

In 2024, the leading northwest landmark focused the event on helping endangered rhinos, and runners’ efforts had astonishing results. More than £140,000 was raised for conservation of the threatened species.

The 2025 Run For Nature will turn its attention to giraffes, a species currently under threat of extinction. All-new features have been added to the agenda to appeal to different ages and abilities of people wishing to participate. These include a flat terrain five-kilometre run alongside the on-mile event for kids called the “Zoom” race, and a 10-kilometre run. Ideal for entrants who enjoy a shorter distance, the 5k run is also suited to those seeking to beat their professional best.

Also new for this year is an expanded route that lets runners see more of Chester Zoo as they circumnavigate its gardens and grounds. Runners will also be treated to an array of specially planned perks including no-admission zoo entry, access to the zoo’s new Heart of Africa exhibit and events village, fundraising prizes, medals and more.

Under 20 minutes away from student accommodation in Hoole, Chester Zoo is an internationally acclaimed champion of wildlife preservation and pledges to educate others about the plight of animals a risk.

The Run for Nature is taking place on Sunday, 21 September at Chester Zoo. Places are limited and the event is exceptionally popular, so those wishing to enter are urged to book early.
