A recent survey has listed the University of Chester (U of C) among the most affordable academic institutions in the UK for international students.

Celebrated for its first-class education, the UK attracts students from all over the world seeking to distinguish themselves with a degree. However, the expense of overseas study often limits how many can attend university here.

Tempo.co compiled a list of the lowest cost universities in the country that are renowned for educational excellence, and Chester made the top 10. While Leeds Beckett University took the top spot, U of C placed sixth, beating respected and affordable educators like the University of Bedfordshire and the University of the West of Scotland (UWS).

The study noted Chester’s long history dating to 1839 when it was founded as the first teacher training college in Britain. The university’s tuition fees were listed at between £13,450 – £20,000 and its Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Ranking as 1201-1500. The international ranking system assesses universities on several factors ranging from academic reputation and research to internationalisation, helping students make informed choices about higher education.

Chester was described as a favourable location for overseas students due to the wide variety of housing options offered in reach of its campuses in Chester, Shrewsbury and Warrington. It commented that the affordability of properties helped international students avoid financial struggles. No fees student accommodation in Chester can be a valuable option for undergraduates from abroad looking for lower set-up costs in the city.
