Cheshire-based rock band The Zangwills are coming to Chester this summer.
Early June will find the four-piece performing at The Live Rooms. Not far from student rentals in Chester and offering an eclectic mix of music genres, the venue regularly attracts undergraduates and postgraduates from the university.
The Zangwills have earned a reputation for creating outstanding live sets. The upcoming hometown gig follows the group’s successful performance at the Manchester event venue Band on the Wall. Since they started playing together in 2017, The Zangwills have amassed a loyal following known for travelling the country to see them on stage. In November 2024, they undertook an epic nationwide tour that saw them play headline dates in major cities like Portsmouth and Edinburgh.
Describing their influences, the band has cited iconic artists like David Bowie and Patti Smith, but also groups from the 80s to the noughties including The Cure and The Strokes. In the music press, The Zangwills have grabbed attention for their collaboration choices. Gordon Raphael, the US producer known for working with The Strokes, recorded with the band on the single “Walking on the Wire”, while Maisie Williams, of Game of Thrones fame, produced the music video for “Judas on the Dancefloor”, another track. Directed by the BAFTA-Winning Lowri Roberts, the video won an award at the 2022 Focus Wales Film Festival.
The Zangwills will now be at The Live Rooms on Thursday, June 5. The venue can be found on Station Road, and ticket prices start at £12.
