Students with a passion for body art will cheer to hear that Chester Tatt Fest is coming back to the city this year.

March will find St Mary’s Creative Space hosting “Vol 1” of Chester Tatt Fest for two days in a row. The former church, based just a short walk from the university, offers a unique space for events and exhibitions and features stained glass windows and decorated arches. The upcoming instalment will represent the fourth year that Chester Tatt Fest has graced the grade listed venue.

Described by organisers as the “best and only tattoo convention” in Chester, the small festival is designed to celebrate knowledge, technique, and the art of tattooing. Every year the event has a specially chosen theme, and for 2025, the focus is aliens.

The weekend event will be attended by 40 different tattoo artists and a professional piercer all showing off their artwork and skills. The festival will also feature a wide range of activities and entertainment. These will include a selection of live musicians performing, prizes to be won, merchandise to purchase from dedicated booths and graffiti displays from gifted artists.

Chester Tatt Fest Vol 1 will be open to members of the public on Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9 at St Mary’s Creative Space. Tickets are priced at £11.55 per person and the event will run from 10 am to 6.30 pm on both days. The venue can be found on top of Saint Mary’s Hill in Chester.
