Hugh and Olivia Grosvenor, the Duke and Duchess of Westminster, recently enjoyed a tour of Chester University.
The pair visited the Queen’s Park campus based in Handbridge and explored the facilities in the university’s Faculty of Health, Medicine, and Society. The tour also included the Wheeler building based near student accommodation in Chester city centre and the Chester Business School on Parkgate Road.
The Duke and Duchess were greeted by Vice Chancellor, Professor Eunice Simmons and key faculty members Dean Kirstie Simpson (Chester Business School) and Professor Kurt Allman (Science, Business and Enterprise). The couple then explored a wide range of virtual reality (VR) and simulation suites and a life-size interactive tablet called an “Anatomage Table” that displays 3D graphic renderings of human anatomy.
Commenting on the tour, The Duke said that the visit to Chester University had been a pleasure, stating that the facilities were amazing and the work taking place on campus was inspiring. He added:
“From the Business School’s regional and international engagement to the cutting-edge medical training technologies, the University is playing a vital role in shaping future professionals and contributing to both the local community and global education.”
Chester University’s Vice-Chancellor said that she was delighted to welcome the esteemed visitors and have an informal opportunity to illustrate some of the university’s impressive facilities and discuss how it positively contributes to the region.
The university’s Grounds and Gardens team presented The Duke and Duchess with a special flower bouquet in honour of the occasion.
