Students at Chester University’s “Creative Campus” Kingsway, can soon enjoy an epic autumn art event in the city.
Close to student housing in Chester, local events venue Carriage Shed is hosting a battle of skill and speed for painters in September. Dubbed the “Canvas Clash”, the evening extravaganza features a live painting contest with knock out rounds.
Eight able artists will compete, but just one can take the title of champion. The competition starts with round one and two where four artists per round produce an artwork within a time limit of half an hour. The final battle will see the top two from both rounds go head-to-head, painting an artwork related to a specific theme selected by the contest’s spectators.
On top of the art competition, the upcoming event has many other features. There will be a range of different market stalls set up on the date selling the work of various local artists. A bar will be serving a range of alcoholic and soft drinks and for those with an appetite, a selection of street food will also be available.
Promising a party atmosphere, those attending can also enjoy a specially planned soundscape provided by a live DJ.
The Canvas Clash will now be held at Carriage Shed on Saturday, September 20. Early bird tickets are priced at £17.50, while general admission costs £20 per person. The event starts at 5 pm and ends at 9 pm, and the venue is based at City Place on City Road in Chester.
