Christmas concert at Chester Cathedral free to students

Much-loved city landmark Chester Cathedral is set to host a special Christmas concert this December. Showcasing the talented Chester Music Society Choir, the event will feature traditional Christmas carols, readings and orchestral delights.

In the spirit of the season, the festive concert taking place in the centre of the city is entirely free to crucial companions of people with disabilities, those under the age of 18, and full-time students. People undertaking courses at the university often seek out accommodation in Chester city centre to enjoy easy access to amenities and events like live concerts.

The seasonal event is dubbed the “CMS Choir Concert: Christmas Cracker” and is presented by special guest and advocate of musical education, Kadiatu Kanneh-Mason. A former English lecturer, author and speaker, she is renowned for her seven children who are all gifted classical musicians, and her best-selling memoir called “House of Music: Raising the Kanneh-Masons” musical family.

Accomplished city ensemble, the Chester Philharmonic Orchestra, will support the Chester Music Society Choir on the night with first-class conducting delivered by Graham Jordan Ellis. The Chester Cathedral Saturday Singing Club will also perform at the event with direction from Tim McLachlan.

The Christmas Cracker concert will be at Chester Cathedral on Thursday, December 16. The event begins at 7.30 pm. Chester Cathedral is located on St Werburgh Street.
