An upcoming event called the Chester Festival of Ideas is an inclusive programme of free public events presented by the University of Chester and its city partners. As part of the initiative, there will be a wide range of physical activities for people of all ages and interests to get involved in.

It features a diverse range of events, including talks, discussions, interactive workshops, exhibitions, and more, on a variety of themes. The festival aims to celebrate Chester, its partners, and its communities by providing opportunities for engagement and learning.

Over the four-day event, community leaders and experts from the university will give festivalgoers a chance to learn and get active simultaneously. A mini event called “Walk the Walls” involves a leisurely two-mile stroll around Chester’s historic Roman city walls and takes attendees on a full circuit. While enjoying impressive views looking down into the city, walkers can get fresh insights into Chester’s impressive past.

Multiple days featuring activities like tennis and squash will be held under the banner of “Health & Wellbeing at University of Chester”. Sessions will be held at the sports complex on the Exton Park campus close to student housing in Chester.

Other events planned include “Sustainability Walks” to learn about how Chester City Centre is working towards a sustainable future, a workshop on measuring the performance and physiological levels of athletic abilities and a nature adventure in Countess of Chester Country Park, led by staff from Chester Zoo.

The Festival of Ideas launches on Friday, July 4 to Monday, July 7 and the various events will take place in and around the city centre.
