Students in Chester with a passion for reggae music and rum will cheer to hear that an event that proved popular in 2024 is returning this summer.

After enjoying a successful turn out last year, city nightspot Alexander’s Live has announced its hosting “Rum & Reggae 2” this August.

Situated in Rufus Court, close to student housing in Chester, Alexander’s Live is a grassroots music venue with lively bar. It’s also known for holding comedy nights presenting local talent and mini festivals like Rum & Reggae.

During last year’s launch, the music and drinks event was completely sold out so those wishing to attend are urged to get their tickets quickly to avoid any disappointment. Deccy J, the venue’s DJ in residence, will be providing a soundtrack fit for the islands all day while headline tribute bands to iconic acts like UB40 and Bob Marley will perform live on stage.

For food, Alexander’s Live has teamed up with Wolverhampton’s celebrated Dats Delicious, promising guests a true taste of Caribbean cuisine. As for drinks, the expert bar staff at the events venue will be crafting colourful cocktails with tropical flavours ranging from rum punch to island mojitos. Shots of rum, rum with mixers and a selection of Caribbean beer brands to order alongside a wide variety of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to suit different tastes will be available.

Rum & Reggae 2 will now take place in the courtyard of Alexander’s Live on Saturday, August 2.
