Students in Chester looking for a summery soundtrack this year won’t have far to travel. The Carriage Shed at City Place has announced it will soon welcome presenter, actor and poet, Craig Charles, to play one of his much-loved DJ sets.

Based in easy reach of student accommodation in Chester, the semi-covered event space will present the afternoon show called the “Craig Charles Funk & Soul Day Disco” in August.

Designed to be a day dedicated to music, dancing and good vibes under the sun, Charles’s show continues to prove a hit. Now enjoying his days as a DJ, the active radio presenter has performed on stages at major UK festivals like Glastonbury, on the radio via BBC6 Music and even at Chester Races.

Charles became known for his character Dave Lister in the cult sci-fi comedy classic TV show Red Dwarf, before going on to play Lloyd Mullaney in the UK soap Coronation Street. He has also presented multiple radio and television and programmes including Robot Wars and Takeshi’s Castle.

Those attending the upcoming event can expect an afternoon filled with rhythm, soul and funky beats, with tracks sourced from Charles’s own epic collection of vintage vinyl.

Craig Charles Funk & Soul Day Disco will now be live at The Carriage Shed on Saturday, August 2. The show will kick off at 1.30 pm. Tickets for the event are available priced at £41.50 and admission is only available to those who are aged 18 years or over.
