This year’s graduating class from the University of Chester will get to collect their awards at Chester Cathedral.

The University of Chester’s Chancellor, Dr Gyles Brandreth, will greet the graduates as they take to the stage to pick up their awards. Vice-Chancellor Professor Eunice Simmons will also congratulate students on their achievements in the subjects of business and enterprise, health, science, medicine, arts society, social sciences, and humanities.

In addition to their family and friends, the attendees will be joined by former Welsh international footballer Cheryl Foster. Foster accumulated 63 caps over her career and is now dedicated to refereeing in the Woman’s Super League and for her country as a FIFA-accredited referee. She is being awarded an honorary Doctor of Science for her contribution to the game.

The University of Chester’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eunice Simmons, said:

“It is always a moment of pride to celebrate the success of our graduates with their family and friends as they embark on their future careers. We congratulate them on everything they have achieved and wish them well for their futures.”

She also said the university was overjoyed to be awarding Cheryl Foster an honorary doctorate, saying she had done a great deal to further women’s football. Foster herself said she was honoured to be receiving the degree, saying it testified to sport’s power when it comes to inspiring subsequent generations and empowering women.

If graduation is a distant prospect and you need somewhere to live, you can find bills-included student accommodation in Chester, sometimes with no upfront fees.
