Popular city gig spot St Mary’s Creative Space has confirmed that June will see a rising Welsh artist gracing its stage to play a setlist fuelled with original tracks.

Described by The Guardian as a “profound talent”, Gwenifer Raymond is a Welsh guitarist, banjo player, and singer-songwriter. Now, the multi-talented musician is heading for Chester to perform a single night show this summer.

Based on St Mary’s Hill in a former church, St Mary’s Creative Space is a popular hangout for many students. A versatile venue featuring a wide range of artistic endeavours, it combines historical charm with a lively community atmosphere and is near student accommodation in Chester city centre, and just over a mile from the university.

Playing a kind of urban folk music known as American Primitive, Raymond will introduce audience members to her latest material. In September, this year the musician is releasing a new album called “Last Night I Heard the Dog Star Bark”. The recording will be offered in multiple formats including digital download, CD and classic vinyl. In honour of the release, special editions will be available under limited release that are signed by the artist and include a print created by artist Steven Krakow. The first single from the LP is already out, and is called “Jack Parsons Blues”

Gwenifer Raymond will now play live in concert at St Mary’s Creative space on Thursday, June 19. Doors to the gig open at 7.30 pm and the show starts at 8 pm. Tickets are priced at £15.40 per person.
