The two branches of JD Weatherspoon in Chester, which are conveniently located on opposite sides of the city centre, will get some items added to their menus in May according to reports from The Sun.
Wetherspoons is often a popular option with Chester’s students due to its competitively priced food and drinks. The first new offering is a bowl of ramen noodles, which The Sun says will compete with that found at Wagamama, the Asian food chain. The basic dish will be only 266 kcals and vegan, with it comprising a broth with shiitake mushrooms, bean sprouts, pak choi, spring onion, bamboo shoots, red onion, coriander, and sliced chillies in addition to noodles. Grilled chicken breast or a poached egg can also be added for an additional cost.
There will also be a new Shawarma chicken option in either a 12- or 10-inch wrap. This will comprise pulled chicken thigh seasoned with Middle Eastern spices, garlic and herb and Naga chilli sauces, onion, tomato, fresh mint, and rocket. For those with less of an appetite, a new range of other 10-inch wraps will be available, such as southern-fried chicken and vegetarian brunch. The breakfast menu will also see new items, such as American-style pancakes and a fiesta brunch.
Chester is a relatively affordable place to live and study, with Wetherspoons and other venues offering competitive deals on food and drink. What’s more, many student rentals in Chester have utility bills included in the rent, making it much easier to budget.
