After welcoming just short of five million customers, Chester Market has celebrated the second anniversary of its opening.
Situated on Chester Northgate, the market was opened in November 2022. Since then, it has won awards and been labelled a “big hit”.
A cabinet member of Cheshire West and Chester Council with responsibility for regeneration, inclusive economy and digital transformation, Councillor Nathan Pardoe, said:
“It’s wonderful to see Chester Market going from strength to strength with all stalls occupied and attracting such quality new goods and service traders whilst continuing to achieve such a huge footfall is a tremendous feat. The market has helped transform the city centre and is now a huge hit…”
He added that Northgate Phase 2 would further improve the city centre by creating new areas for recreation and habitation. All the market’s stalls are now occupied, with three having opened recently and a fourth getting ready to open. Muddy Stilettos recently cited the market as Chester’s best place to eat, with a range of street food being available. Together with a wider range of goods on offer and longer opening hours, this has caused footfall to increase five times compared to the old market when it was last open in 2021.
