Ellen Harrison, a Bioveterinary Science BSc student in her final year, has talked about her experience at Harper and Keele University attending the INSPIRE Veterinary Student National Research Conference.
Researchers and students from around the country gathered at the event to discuss recent research in veterinary science. Ellen said that on entering the venue, she was greeted by an abundance of scientific posters about things like small animal practices for orthopaedic discharge procedures and their effectiveness, as well as how obesity in canines was perceived. Various professional speakers also presented about various topics during the day, but there were also a number of student presentations on a variety of topics, such as establishing cardiac patients’ electrolyte imbalance, both for canines and humans.
Ellen ended by expressing how happy she was that she attended and would certainly be planning to go to future events of a similar nature, adding:
“I left this conference feeling more confident, more motivated, and fascinated about my degree and a future in veterinary science research. I cannot recommend attending the INSPIRE conference enough to any Bioveterinary Science students and really hope that more students in the future discover this incredible resource of knowledge and opportunity.”
