St Mary’s Creative Space in Chester is presenting a comedy show in the new year featuring talented stars of the northwest stand-up scene.

The event, entitled the “Comedians Club Chester” (CCC), will be hosted by Lancashire’s Dan Nightingale. The Preston podcaster and comedian has been performing professionally since 2004 and undertook an epic tour of Ireland and the UK in 2022 called “Smasher”.

Now, January will see Nightingale introduce a trio of comics in Chester at the event that has been described as the best for comedy night in the northwest. A former church, St Mary’s Creative Space provides a unique location for the stand-up show in easy reach of student housing in Chester, making the show ideal for those looking for laughs at the university.

Acts performing on the night include award-winning wordsmith and self-professed mummy’s boy Brennan Reece, who was named “English Comedian of the Year” at the Edinburgh Festival, as well as the multi-talented Kay Nicholson, a Liverpudlian writer, actress, presenter and comedian.

Rounding off the show is award-winning master of ceremonies Barry Dodds. Known for his effortless charm, the stand-up has won multiple titles in a row at the Midlands Comedy Awards for his MC skills, while his style on stage features down to earth and disarming observational humour combined with a wry wit.

The Comedians Club Chester will now take place on January 11 at St Mary’s Creative Space. The show will kick off at 7.30 pm, and the centre is situated at the top of St Mary’s Hill in Chester.
