If you’ve ever fancied taking up archery, the City of Chester Archers club has received funding that will enable it to take on more beginners in the near future.
Cestrians may be attracted to the City of Chester Archers, a local club, out of a desire to take up archery. Nevertheless, Archery GB, the national governing body, has set minimum expectations of competence and safety, meaning that a six-week course needs to be successfully completed by beginners prior to joining the club. The club’s website says:
“…we are passionate about archery and we take pride in sharing our knowledge and expertise with everyone. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced archer, we welcome you to come and join us. We are always looking for new members to join our community of archery enthusiasts.”
The £1,158 grant from the Marshes Community Benefit Fund will pay for two coaches to be trained, which will then enable the club to offer 15 or so local people the opportunity to complete the beginner course, as well as offer further beginner courses in future. The coaches will also help other members to develop their archery skills.
Chester and its university offer a variety of activities to keep you engaged in your spare time while you study at Chester. If you’re looking for off-campus accommodation, you can find Chester university accommodation in popular areas like Hoole and the Garden Quarter, often with no fees to pay upfront and bills included in the rent.
