A student recently spoke out on her experience at the University of Chester after her history dissertation was awarded one of the university’s highest marks ever.
Sadie Smith commented that she had always taken pleasure in learning about history, so it made sense to select the subject for her time at Chester. History is taught at the Exton Park campus, near many Chester University accommodation options. Finding housing near where they study is helpful for students saving them money and time on travel.
After achieving a first in the university’s BA History programme, Smith continued to excel with her master’s, where her dissertation was awarded an impressive score of 92 out of 100.
Commenting on her studies, Smith said:
“I had a great experience studying History at Chester, both at undergraduate and master’s level. The small class sizes and fantastic academic and pastoral support from staff created a friendly and engaging learning environment.”
On the cusp of being a graduate, Smith is now busy with applications for a range of different doctoral programmes and seeking to secure funding for her PhD, through an academic scholarship or with support of research councils. She added that the competitive process is exceptionally daunting and required her to adapt and get outside of her comfort zone.
However, the remarkable student commented that even since leaving the University of Chester, her former tutors at the History Department have continued to provide plenty of support that has been exceptionally helpful. She credits a lot of her academic success to the Chester University and its faculty members.
