University of Chester students seeking laughs in the city will be well-served this spring, as a popular comedian is making an appearance.

April will find South London comedian Geoff Norcott performing a live set at celebrated stand-up venue, Alexander’s Live. Known for its live music and comedy, the club is based in Rufus Court in easy reach of student housing in Chester, making it a superb spot for an evening on the town.

Norcott’s appearance in the city is part of a brand-new tour for 2025 called “Work in Progress”. The straight-talking comic will bring his unique stand-up-style to the stage as seen on televised performances like “Live at the Apollo”. Northcott is also known for spicing up popular comedy panel shows in the UK like “Question Time” and “Mock the Week”. A comedy writer, he has also penned scripts for countless programmes including “Alternative Election” on Channel 4, “Roast Battle” and “Judge Romesh”, as well as writing for leading periodicals like The Independent and The Daily Telegraph.

After completing five frontline tours in Afghanistan where he entertained the troops, he was awarded an Operational Service Medal (OSM). Norcott is also a familiar voice on Radio Four, having appeared many times on The Now Show and a comedy special of his own creation.

Geoff Norcott will be at Alexander’s Live on Sunday, April 27. The venue is simple to find at 2 Rufus Court on Northgate Street in Chester, and the show has a start time of 8 pm.
