If you enjoy classical music, you might want to consider attending a festive concert at Chester’s grade-listed cathedral.
The Piccadilly Sinfonietta’s excellent musicians will perform the concert led by Warren Mailley-Smith, a renowned concert pianist. A prominent violin soloist will also be joining them, but this has yet to be confirmed.
The concert will take place at 7:30pm on November 25. LED candles will illuminate the cathedral and create an enchanting atmosphere as the musicians perform Vivali’s masterpiece The Four Seasons and the Second Piano Concerto composed by Rachmaninov. If classical isn’t your thing, the cathedral hosts a range of musical performances, such as West End performers and prominent tribute bands, so be sure to check the cathedral’s events listings.
According to the cathedral’s events page, the Piccadilly Sinfonietta were established in 2017. They have since been regulars on the concert scene, having performed at prominent venues over 200 times. It adds:
“The ensemble comprises some of the most prodigious musical talent and performs exclusively with leading virtuoso soloists. The group performs under the artistic direction of its founder, concert pianist Warren Mailley-Smith and focuses on the virtuoso concerto repertoire of the baroque, classical and early romantic periods.”
There’s a range of events to suit all tastes in Chester, so it’s little wonder that so many people come here to study. If this applies to you but you need some accommodation, you can find no-fees student accommodation in Chester, often with bills included in the monthly rent.
